Received two messages from a "Screening Agent", which didn't record properly (my cell only caught part of the message) asking me to fill out travel forms and ensure that I was following quarantine policies. I haven't traveled outside Canada in years. After ten or so spam calls, made at least once per hour for two days straight, I ended up blocking it. I take better precautions than most federal employees. Don't spam me with garbage like that again.
Problem with a 'Screening Agent' calling is that you don't have to stay locked up anymore for 14 days as that has ended MONTHS ago. They called asking for Mr. XXXX, would not give ANY sort of info besides "This is the Government of Canada". Guess we'll find out if they are legit as I hung up on the person who was having such a hard time with english.
This is a legit phone number; it's a Designated Screening Officer from the federal government to make sure you're staying home for the 14-day quarantine.
Says ‘this is not a scam’ at start of Robo message. Claims to be government of Canada but number lookup says this is a US number. Asks to press 1 or 2. Classic click bait to identify hot numbers and then they sell your number to other telemarketers increasing your spam calls.
This is not a scam number. Any traveler entering Canada is subject to quarantine compliance verifications. This is the number you are called from for these verification questions. The people calling you are Designated Screening Officers working under the Canadian Quarantine Act and the Public Health Agency of Canada. There are sometimes reception issues with US mobile numbers, Thus the silence that can occur on occasion. And yes these agents work on the weekends - Covid doesn't have weekends off
Said they're calling on behalf of the Government of Canada and confirmed my personal information first and asked few questions on my quarantine status.
