I called SSA. They informed me that someone from SSA had tried to contact me. She was able to verify the name of the person who tried to call me.

I called the SS office to see if it was legit (800-772-1213). I was told she was. I called her and had my check within a week.

This is a legitimate SSA phone number, I asked how I could be sure her call wasn't a scam and she read verbatim to me something I had written on my Social Security application that no one else could have possible known. They work from home and the caller ID shows the actual # they call from, if you call them back you punch in a 5 digit extension that routes the call to them from the 866 #.
