I mixed up the # for US and international on the back of the card. I asked if he was Capitol One and he said yes. They said they were going to send me a $100 gift card and for me to pay $4 shipping and handling upon arrival. I gave them my physical and mailing address, then they asked for my bank info, at that point I told him to transfer me to someone that could help me with why I called in the first place. When he said that would be him, I hung up.
Same thing happened to me as the rest of the comments on here. I misdialed the same way, mixing the prefix and suffix numbers of the US and International on my cap1 card, accidentally. But I was trying to make a payment from my bank account and they grabbed all my information before I realized what was going on; I thought I was talking with Cap1, after all. Anyway, had to close my bank account and open a new one. I really can't remember if I gave my SS # though, since the aftermath I was all i
Scam! They pretended to be Capital One. I became suspicious when the automated voice said that I won a $100 gift card and to press one. I thought I got the number off of the official website so I pressed one, and just asked to add an authorized user. He said he needed ALL of my information to do that. Capital One does not need all of your information to pull up your account. Just the last 4 digits of your card and your name. I immediately hung up.
I did the same thing called the last 4 digits of the international number, they acted like Capital One. When I realized I had given them too much info. I hung up called Capital One and froze my credit.
Same thing just happened to me, I dialed the first part of the US/Canada # and the last # 2001 for international calls. They almost got me until they asked for my full Cap1 card number. I reported it to the fraud department as well.
It’s the beginning of the US number on the back of the Capitol One card with the last 4 digits of the international number. It was my mistake to dial it. They keep asking verifying questions and offer rewards for being a loyal customer asking you to say you accept it. Apparently I kept doing it wrong so they kept transferring me to their next supervisor. Finally I figured it out. It’s a scam to get your information. I had to call my real credit card number to put a fraud alert on it. So fr
The last four digits are right under the credit card company number so I accidentally entered the last four numbers as 2001. It is a scam and I realized after giving my whole card number.
My husband called this number from the back of our Capital one credit card. He was trying to get balance for card. The person on the phone (foreign) asked for his name, Address, Phone number and card number and the code on the back of the card. He gave all of it. Then they told him he had to record his answers, So a machine would ask him questions and he would have to answer the questions with his own voice. He started asking why can't you just tell me my balance? Why are you asking me all of th
