Yes, I received an IRS notice in the mail and had a question.
I called the 1-800-829-8374 listed on the IRS notice but decided to receive a call back. The automated IRS system stated that I would receive a call back from a West Virginia are code (304) phone #. It showed up as "Scam Likely" on my phone, but was actually a real IRS agent.
Yes, I received an IRS notice in the mail and had a question. I called the 1-800-839-0922 # listed on the IRS notice but decided to receive a call back since I did not feel like staying on hold for 30 minutes. The automated IRS system stated that I would receive a call back from their (304) phone #. It comes up as Scam Likely but it is legit.
I've been calling the IRS over an issue regarding one of my taxes & this is the number they call back from. They told me from day 1, if they needed to call me regarding the issue, they would call from a West Virginia #. Also when calling & instead of being placed on hold (if you can get that far!) you can request a call back. It came from this number as well.
This number is a legit IRS call center. Google it and you should see it come up as so. I called the IRS and was given a 15-30 minute hold time, along with an option for a callback. The IRS said I would receive a call from a West Virginia number, which Google confirmed this number was, and again, it also came up as an IRS call center.
I missed the call because my phone thought it was a sketchy number and blocked it. But again, the IRS said I would get a call from a West Virginia number, and Go
I called the IRS.. By calling the number on a letter from the IRS... The automated system stated it would be a 45 min wait, gave me an option for a call back... 40 min later an automated system called me back, thanked me for waiting, asked me to reconfirm my info...
I called number back and it went to a disconnected line...
Did I get scammed? If so they got me...
I am worried I called800-830-XXX which came off a letter from IRS they gave me a time for a call back which came 304-707-9490 I sure hope this wasn't a scam as I gave my social security #
I believe this to be safe. I called the IRS and then I received a return phone call from this number in the amount of time I was told I would receive a return phone call. All my questions were answered. He did ask for my social, Dob, Name and address, Said he would add notes to my file and since I called the number originally, He needed to look up my info. But said to never give any info to someone who calls me, Texts me, Or emails.
Strange that they asked all my info, Social, DOB, & address. No payments. After placed on hold.. 2 min later the call disconnected and I was unable to call back. Worries it could be a scam.
Wondering if this number is legit
popped up for return call from IRS
thinking more and more about the qestions i am a little worried it could have been a scam'
This is the number IRS called me back after I chose to receive a callback
BUT I was left on hold for over 30 minutes after they said they will put me on hold for 5 mins to get more info.
so naturally I got concerned it was a fraud.
This was a call back after being on hold with the IRS phone number 800 829-XXXX. Message said they would call back in 45 minutes and they did.
I called about an online payment agreement and the caller already had correct payment information that I did not give him onver the phone so I believe it was legit.
Is in fact an IRS number. Received an initiated return call concerning a tax issue. But, That being said, I’m sure also that some scammers have also spoofed this number.
