Got a text from a recent transaction asking Y or N then a number to call with a pin. The text response didn't work so I called but it was a dodgy response. I said I'd call back but didn't. Looked up the number and got this scam alert
Repeated calls, don't answer, scam, listened on my mobile to the robot message, it had all the ingredients for a scam, a code, direction to call another number and then use the code. Scammers have done their homework because they know your telephone number and Mob number too also are in possession of your full name, do not be fooled, just put the phone down, mark as spam and block on your mobile. On your landline it may be a touch more involved to do this I don't know?! But for me it's easy for
This number is definitely Santander checking my card hadn't been used by fraudsters. I personally called Santander from number on my bank account to verify my transaction ant they confirmed text had been sent from them so it's genuine and safe number
I just called Santander after getting so many calls from this number, they confirmed my account is OK and they have no reasons to contact me, the odd thing is, I just changed my name on the account two weeks ago to match my passport and drivers license, its a long and complex name, and the call actually spoke with this full name so I assumed it has to be from the bank, but when they start asking questions about security I hang up, and everyone should do the same, NEVER give out security answers
I understand that this could appear to be a scam number - however it is NOT - I recieved text messages and a phone call from this number - I then called my bank (Santander) on a different number and they confirmed the above is their number - there had been a dodgy transaction on my account which they stopped and messaged me and called me to discuss. I would recommend that rather than ignoring this you ring your bank on the number on the back of the card to clarify what is going on
