I just received a call from this number. As I answered, There was a lady singing (rather odd methinks). She asked for me by my first name, I confirmed and she hung up. Oh well, My Tru-call blocker has another number on its' zapped list now.
He said he was from national geographic calling about a free magazine I applied for however I claimed this magazine directly from national geographic over a year ago. It turns out they just want to sell random magazines most likely, Don't know how they got the previous information though
I got conned by these people before. Had magazines sent about computers paid a £1 then had problems getting rid of. Also had TV magazine sent to me for about 6 weeks. Never paid a penny. Eventually managed to cancel. Also got one on puzzles tried charging managed to cancel get refun. Worst one was completion one lost £14. 00 on it refused refund. Name and number sold on by companies.
This number calls me every day for weeks! I never answer calls whose number I do not recognise. Last week, Being so fed up with it, Answered they started off in an accent i could barely inderstand. I think it is matket research or telemarketing but i still don't know exactly who they are?? I told them i was not interested but they still ring and choose different parts of the day.
From Totally fed up!!
Spent 10 minutes enthusing about the content of their Computer Magazine, Then added..... Hang on, Isn't this mostly Windows based, I am entirely MacBook based, So it won't be of much use - they hung up
Want you to sign for free magazine but when you dont want the follow ups they just keep ringing, I have blocked the number, I dont know why the ombudsman dont stop these calls
I got a call after filling in a survey for PCworld to confirm a 'free' copy of a magazine. I was and am still a little unsure about the survey which offered big prizes which you 'only' pay postage, The one I selected was £0 to pay for the postage. I got to the bank details page twice and crossed off, Then I got this call, Asking if I wanted to upgrade for £1 obviously I said I wasn't interested. It is all a bit suspicious to me.
Got my details completely wrong and won't remove me from their database (despite asking them number of times), But calls from different numbers instead (same company)
So let me get this right, - a random caller with a Sales spiel of some kind, Makes the offer sound really good, And you decide to take it up, Which involves giving them your Debit Card or bank details over the phone.
Nothing to worry about there then....
I took out the £1. 00 for 6 weeks subscription, Then I made sure as i was told by the advisor to cancel My Direct Debit or they will start charging me the full price (£4. 95 per week) I suppose they are ringing me to go back, The initial 6 choices of 20 different magazine/Newspapers were Brilliant &for just £1. 00, How could you refuse!!
