I received a text from British Gas. I'm not a British Gas client, they don't have my phone number.

British Gas scam trying to get you to reply to the message. Do not reply and submit yourself to the official British Gas website or app.

British Gas asking for a meter reading? They usually ask you to do this through their online portal, not by some dodgey text. Don't reply.

"From British Gas. To make sure your consumption is charged as accurately as possible ahead of any price changes, could you please reply with a Gas and Elec Meter Reading in the following format G1234 or G12345 E12345. Thanks, your British Gas Team."

Claims to be British Gas, asking for a meter reading "To make sure your consumption is charged as accurately as possible ahead of any price changes". I'm suspicious because I only gave them a reading via the website a couple of weeks ago. I'll go ahead and let their charges be inaccurate.

Got a text saying thanks for my eBay order for Glam lenses, Asking for my eBay user name to send “freebies” I haven’t purchased anything. Message also contains 3 different links none of which I opened

Text Message states 'perfect. We will catch up tomorrow enjoy the rest of your day'. Pretty sure it's a scam to get you to reply as message seems innocent and piques interest/polite message back asking who it is.
