If you Google the number, it is actually The Royal Mail, you can see it on their list of contact telephone numbers. However, it seems that scammers have been cloning this number so don’t give personal or financial information if they call. Call Royal Mail yourself to check it’s genuine.
This number is given by Amazon market place as the one to use to track a parcel sent by Royal Mail. My parcel is late but I am reluctant to phone if, as seems from these comments, I am going to be asked for additional postage for delivery.
This literally just happened to me an hour ago! Was extremely suspicious as they didn't even have my correct full name, or actual home address.
Avoid at all cost! They're not from royal mail whatsoever.
Woman pretending to be royal mail, gives a pickup address that's far away and then suggests a re-delivery. Was already suspicious at this, as obviously they normally actually attempt a delivery first with a re-delivery.
Gave them a temp email I have, she was weirdly aggressive in asking whether I'd received the email, it had gone into spam, was very obviously not from Royal Mail, and at that point I hung up.
Pretending to be royal mail and asking for personal information to redirect my parcel. They sent a follow-up text with a link for payment. Clever scam as my phone registered the number as royal mail and she told me to Google the number to verify the legitimacy. They had my name and phone number.
Claimed to be royal mail and had a parcel I needed to pick up within 2 days. Needed a live email to send me tracking details. Don't think so love. Not sure who would send me a parcel to London that knew my name and number but not my address. Asked her to redirect it to cyber crimes. She even told me to Google her number and it would come up as Royal Mail, guess what. It did. Obviously a clever scam.
Woman with accent (sounded eastern European) claiming to be from Royal Mail with a package sent to me but stuck at a London sorting office that needed redirecting. She 'needed [my] help' and wanted to send me an email so that I could 'claim' the package. Obvious scam.
Dangerous scam - a woman who knew my name, purportedly from Royal Mail, said they had a package for me stuck in the London depot (recited Royal Mail address). Asked if I want them to text me a link to receive it. I agreed, and the link takes you to a very convincing clone of the Royal Mail's website - except that many of the site links didn't quite work if you tried browsing the site, and the shop takes you to the real Real Mail website... But the landing page asks for an email address, and once
Caller display shows call coming from "Royal Mail 03457740740" wanting me to pay £1. 50 for redelivery as the postage had been paid but the stamp was missing?@#!
Sent me to a Royal Mail website that looked good apart from the website tab being grey globe and not the RM logo... He was quite determined for me to pay by card and said he would wait on the phone with me to ensure the payment went through. Again, an irregular offer?
Have sent the website link to Royal Mail for them to sort. H
ATTENTION, SCAM!!! Called twice and I missed their call, called back from another number and (this was a while ago) I don't remember what happened, they probably didn't say anything and I hung up, but they must've kept the line open for 5 mins, since that's how it shows up in my phone and in my bill, which is classified as a United Kingdom Special Numbers, and charged a premium.
Had a call from this number claiming to be royal mail and there is a parcel waiting for me in the sorting office in london. I asked for what the delivery address was supposed to be and she said either warrington or liverpool..... Bad guess as I dont live in either of those places. I said I would pick it up and asked for the reference number I would need and she hung up
Called me to say that she’s from Royal Mail and asked me to pay £1. 50 for a parcel as it’s being held at their London Royal Mail collection point and can’t release the parcel as there is a problem with the stamp and that as soon as I pay the £1. 50 they will be able to release it, she gave me two option, either pay via phone or come collect it from London (no address was given)
I’m not expecting a parcel so I said that I will go collect it myself and hanged up
Scam: telling me they had a parcel for me and did I want to know more about it. I told them no as I wasn't expecting one and hung up. No is in subject box
Asking me to pay 1. 50 for a package being held at Royal Mail. They said they do not know who the sender is although said they have been trying to contact them to release my package. Seemed pushy and wanted to keep me on the phone to make sure I entered bank details which I did not do!! She hung up abruptly when I said I wouldn’t be entering my bank details.
Caller display shows call coming from "Royal Mail 03457740740" however it was a scumbag trying to get my mum's card details to charge her £1. 50 to deliver a package. Luckily my mum has her head screwed on and knew it was a scam.
I was told they had a package with no stamp on. I could either pay £1. 50 or collect in person. Hmm £1. 50 is not much but If they had my bank details I expect they would have taken a lot more. So I decided to collect in person. I was quickly told my reference number and wished a good day. Hmm guess I’m not going to be able to collect from London as no address was given. SCAM - BEWARE
This is a royal mail phone number, as far as i am aware but for ingoing calls on only, royal mail will not phone you from this number, apparently i have a parcel with no stamp on it and i need to pay, YEAH, RIGHT
I have also just been called by the same number requesting £1. 55 for a parcel as there was no stamp on it. Quite aggressive & insisting I follow the instructions & put in the one time passcode. However the message said "NEVER share this code, even with bank staff or police, use XXXXXX to make a purchase of 5265.0 EGP at ALFE FRIEGHT ref 4148. Not you? Please call us.
They said I had to pay a small fee for a parcel to be delivered. They said they didn't know details apart from two initials of the sender, it weighing 0. 75g and something to do with an Amazon box. They were in London but I live in Scotland, I am not expecting anything and when saying so, they still tried to press for payment. They said they'd send a link or text. I said they're free to do it but I'm not actually going to pay if I not able to find out more as someone has likely used my details.
Saying i had a package to be delivered which had a under payment for postage could i give credit card details over the phone so the parcel could be delivered. What a scam.
