A dangerous scam about a council Tax over payment and refund. Be very careful.

BEWARE - A very very believable scam! A pleasant well spoken lady said I had been put in the wrong CT band and when I asked her how this was possible she had a very plausible explanation - she even told me I could reclaim myself - but for a one off fee of £150 which I would get back from the government anyway - they would do all the work for me all they needed from me was my debit/credit card details!! I bet they did!! AVOID

Starting asking me about my Council tax And different. Questions how long have I lived in my home and then put the phone down when I said I’ve been here so many years I just kept saying yeah.

Phoned council tax dept after this call, Didn't give them any money. THIS IS A SCAM

SCAM - council tax rebate fraud want your bank details and 150pounds to process rebate - DO NOT RESPOND.

Lady saying she was from National Tax Consultants.. Let her go through all the info.. Said overpaid by £6000 and if we paid £150 they get us a refund... Yeah right.

Obvious scam based on CT bands.. As soon as I started asking reasonable questions the woman rung off. I guess all they have is a council tax list which I assume they shouldn't legally be in possession of.

A lady called from "National Tax Consultants" and said I was in too high a Council Tax Band and entitled to a refund. It sounded like a scam but I played along to find out more. When she wanted to put me through to payments department I asked for a bit of information about her company and said the magic words - "due diligence" She hung up.

Same as other comments here. A female saying I had paid too much council tax and was in the wrong band. She hung up when I asked if she could put details in writing and post it to me.

Very plausible woman, Initially very polite who told me I was paying too much CT and could also get a refund for previous payments. When I queried why she needed information on certain point as she would already have this information she said it was for confirmation. In the end she said she would move on to someone who actually wanted a refund!

A believable sounding female saying I had been paying too much council tax, Said she was Ellie from the council and said they had evidence I was in the wrong band and it should be lower.

This is a council tax scam saying you are in the wrong band.

Woman called to say she was from council tax office and we had been paying too much so were due a refund!

Asked me my name, When I asked who they were they huffed and put down the phone

Scam caller, Tried to tell me my council tax band was wrong. Hung up when I asked who I was speaking to.

Called9. 30am 10/12/18 no one spoke

Beawear there is a new scam going telephone call saying i paid to much council tax i will get £2, 260 back rebate they wanted £150 off me to sort it out i new i was paying the right amount this is the number they rang me on 02038873194 it is a london number
