Said EDF and our meter had come to end of its life. Said that it was not a smart meter but they needed to come in house to check electrics which made me suspicious. They lied about the smart meter
Said I didn’t want a smart meter YET. She LIED saying it wasn’t a smart meter but an upgrade of my meter. She asked for my address I gave it then started to panic it was a scam. Asked her to prove it was edf but confirming my email to me, she refused. Eventually she hang up on me!!!
I don’t answer numbers I don’t recognise but this one is persistent. Now I know it’s EDF trying to get me to install a smart meter I can happily ignore it
Told me I needed new meters installing as mine as refurbed old ones installed in 2021. That information was incorrect. Told me they couldn’t guarantee I’d continue getting a supply of gas or electric if I don’t have new meters installed. Told him that if my supply was interrupted at all, I’d seek legal action against edf for tampering with my supply & hung up on the rude little man.
Report these guys to the Information Commission Office (ICO). They do not follow UK contact laws, making unsolicited calls and ignoring people's requests to opt out. Harassing people by constantly calling them with unsolicited marketing is not allowed - simple.
Ask me for a meter reading as nobody can come to read the meter due to COVID 19. I never had anyone reading the meter before as I usually get an email and then put it online
Been hassling me for ages to get a Smart Meter.

EDF my own utility supplier trying to force me to get a smart meter. Not only have I answered and said no, I have this week called and asked to have my name removed. Was told this take 7 days and they have upped the calls since! 4 days left!!
Yet another call from EDF about installing a Smart Meter. Have been hounded by EDF by phone and letter for months. Time to change utility company I think.
It's just EDF. It's not a scam. It's not telemarketing. All energy companies are required by law to upgrade people with a smart meter. They're just contacting customers to get this done.
Phone doesn't ring, But I get notification about having a voicemail - then no message. Happened yesterday and today, Very annoying especially if it continues....
Rude and unnecessarily aggressive call from telemarketer who had the impertinence to question my intention to ponder my choice around getting a so-called smart meter. As a result of this call, I am also now also pondering my choice of a new energy supplier. Bravo EDF, Your moronic hard core sales tactics have failed spectacularly
When I answered this call, I could hear call centre noises in the background so never gave them a chance to say anything and I put the phone down. Since reading comments on here, Have found out that it was, Probably, EDF Energy trying to get me to sign up for a Smart Meter, Which I have told them, By phone, E-mail and letter, That I do not want.
They obviously don't do their homework if it is EDF as Smart Meters aren't compatible with solar panels which we have, And they pay us the Feed in Tariff...........
My mobile phone gave me the message across the screen 'Suspected Spam Caller'. Didn't answer the call but from reading other posts, I agree it must be EDF again trying to get me to have a Smart Meter.
EDF calling to arrange a Smart Meter fitting. Tell them no you dont want their smart meter and they say OK.
2 weeks later they start calling again. No I don't want one. OK... 2 weeks more calls.

I am constantly getting calls from this number. Every time I answer there is no-one there/they hang up! Getting seriously annoyed with this now. Seeing the comments that it is EDF about a Smart Meter makes sense because I did answer a call about that a while ago now, But the call got cut off halfway through so I was expecting them to call me back at some point.
Number now blocked as I am sick and tired of multiple calls per day whilst I am at work!
No idea who it was. No doubt someone telling me I needed something I certainly don't. A day should be set aside during the year to allow the hunting down and eliminating these people.
Re. EDF smart meter. Very persistent wouldn’t accept that we don’t want one he just kept on talking & talking. Politely said hanging up now & he still kept gassing!!

Nuisance calls about smart meter installation by Edf. I was getting a missed call twice a day with no message left. I called the number back today and it gave me the option to be removed from the list. Here’s hoping it worked!
Very annoying - I joined EDF last week and since then I kept receiving phone calls which I ignored until I checked the number. Next time I got the call I said that I don't want the smart meter, And the lady on the other line was very persistent trying to change my mind. Even if I asked them to not call me again, I got another phone call today. Had to block it.
Repeated calls with no message, Probably from EDF trying to bully people into having unreliable smart meters, Which save nothing. I never gave permission for EDF to contact me like this. Never leaving a message is actually quite sinister
Claimed to be from my energy supplier, Pressing me to have a smart meter installed; claimed that the meters were old and have to be changed. She ignored my statement that I did NOT want a smart meter, Kept persisting that the meters have to be changed.
I have received numerous calls from this number about installing a smart meter. If anyone from EDF reads this, Can you please stop harassing your customers. If we wanted one install we would contact you.
Persistent EDF call centre saying I need to make an appointment to have smart meter installed - told them unless compulsory I won't/don't want one - have asked numerous times for number to be removed to no avail
When I answered, The annoying asshole hung up. Why don't these tossers get a real job, Maybe even one they can do. I'll mark it as harassing, But it really just saddens me that I cannot kick their ass.
EDF smart meter, I to, D them not to call back as they keep waking me up calling, F##nkin useless, Free of charge my arse my meter charge is 30 p per day per meter, I don't need to know what I'm using per hour I can work that out with my old meter that use to be 7 p per day, Another rip of scam from a crap third party fuckin call centre probably owned by a torie
The woman claimed to be from EDF and asked to speak to the account holder, When I told the woman the account holder was unavailable and to again say why they were calling, She told me to "xxxx off" and hung up. This is not the normal EDF contact number (an 0333 number), So obviously a third party. They need to vet their contractors to weed out the "potty mouths."
I rang the number back after reading the comments below & it is indeed a recorded message from EDF offering a smart meter. You get the option to press 1 if you don't want a smart meter & a different voice says you'll be removed from the lists but it may take up to 24hrs. Worth doing then - particularly as the government's driving these companies to push the take up of these meters that no-one seems to want!
Smart meter take up has not been a well received as the Government and Energy companies would have wished. Mainly because the saving they suggest you can make have been seriously inflated. Therefore they are now resorting to hard sell cold calling tactics. What they don't appear to realise is that, As a result of their nuisance calls I am going to change suppliers.
I rarely answer numbers I don't recognise but my brother is currently in hospital so took the call.

I have call blocker so any number coming through should be an announced call. Only number that comes straight through on my landline is my dad so when phone rings with no announcement I assume it is dad. EDF are not using the announced facility and I've already told them 3 times I do not want a smart meter - have now had to block them to stop the daily calls.
EDF Energy trying for the umpteenth time to get me to have a smart meter. They don't even know how to use my answerphone to leave a message... Not so smart. I have now rung them and pressed 1 to hopefully cancel this harassment.
Persistent calls and text messages from EDF (or one of their contractors) trying to persuade me to have a smart meter which I have already said I don't want. Now on my blocked list.
I've answered at least 3 calls which then went dead. I suspected they were automated calls to check if the phone was answered. Seems that I was right, As I just got a call from EDF offering me a meter.
As I phoned EDF on Mon to advise that 1 more such call would result in the loss of my a/c and last night got another dead call, They are going to lose my a/c asap
