Said they where the police and where calling me back to ask about a crime I reported said they will ring me back when they have more information but police always ring back in a unknown number and would have the information to hand it just seemed wired
Funny how they call you and then want personal information to ‘verify’ your account? I said you called me. You tell me my personal information and I’ll confirm if correct. “It doesn’t work like that” they said. Damp right it doesn’t I replied and ended the call
This is a call centre in Capetown South African. They hide behind a UK landline number from the Redditch area of Worcestershire. They claim to be calling on behalf of Scottish Power, however this is not a Scottish Power number.
When they start asking for name, first line of address and post code, I ask then to prove who they are. They then either put the phone down or just repeat the demand for details. I won't give them anything. If it is Scottish Power, they need to call from their 0345 270 0
A scam pretending to be energy company. Saying they want to talk about my account but asking me personal information that my provider wouldn't usually ask.
Scam, pretending to be a power company I'm no longer with. Threatened to cut my power IMMEDIATLY if I didn't give them my backing details. I asked how scammers would be able to phone me if I was unable to charge my mobile phone... They hung up LOL
Claim to be Scottish Power. I have been dealing with an issue since Nov 2021. I have never spoken to anyone at Scottish Power that wasn't a Geordie!! They definitely have inside info. They are definitely not from Scottish Power. SP customer servioces don't call you without an appointment (which they can't keep but thats another issue!)
Claimed to be Scottish Power. Asked for my full name which I declined to give. I challenged them saying, I don't know if they're Scottish Power, at which point said he was unable to tell me what the issue was but advised me to call Scottish Power, at which point I hung up. The ‘due date’ on my bill was 10 June, I paid it on 12 June and now they were calling me on 15 June. I think these scammers have inside information.
Comes from UK debt advice. These are liw value Asian scammwrs trying to obtain personal details. Play them by all means, but tell them nothing about yourself.
I just had a call from this number very insistent on getting my bank details to pay out an “outstanding” which I paid off! Of course I refused. Please be careful they kept saying my power will be cut off
Just called me a scam call pretending to be scottish power not there's number and they always talk to you direct if the call you not through automated system ignore it and block.
Claimed to be Scottish Power. Asked for my full name which I declined to give. I challenged them saying, I don't know if they're Scottish Power, at which point "Janice" became slightly more challenging in her tone and said she was unable to tell me what the issue was but advised me to call the number on the statement. I said, I've paid my bill... I don't know why you'd need to contact me. At this point Janice ended the call without further comment
This number called me saying they were from Scottish Power and instantly asked me for my full details I replied that I would not tell them till they could give me more info first and asked what's my town post code and they could not tell me so I said that he was a scammer and if real the should contact me by mail.
Scam call - Called by an autodialer announcing it was SP and they needed to talk about an outstanding bill (which we do have), press 1 to be connected etc - man with a South African accent sounded quite plausible and attempted to followed the usual SP security checking process - I refused to give any information given it was an incoming call and asked him for a number I could call back on to check the veracity of the call - he said call the number on the bill. I did so and SP confirmed they have
Very odd call. Requesting lots of detailed security questions, Claimed to be from Scottish power.
When they said they wanted to take a payment and we refused they hung up.
I called the number back and they answered immediately with a “hello thanks for Calling Scottish power...”. For anyone who’s ever tried to contact Scottish power you’ll know it’s a complete nightmare and you’re likely to be on hold for several hours so they answering immediately caused alarm bells.
A thoroughly dan
Bill scam. Get automated voice claiming to be Scottish power but when you talk to a person they don't know anything about you. Big red flag since I'm not even with that company.
Scam pretending to be Scottish power, Keep getting calls and texts saying I owe over 4 grand. Never been with SP in my life. If you block the calls, They just call off another number.
They act as tho its Scottish power and ask u for details for security reasons. As if not been with Scottish power for 6yrs and when I left my account was up to date I was a bit suspicious. So when I asked for my account number to check it was who they claimed to be, They said I cznt give you that until u answer security questions date of birth and bank account number on file.
Now the law says if it's the real company they can tell u your acc details before security questions as it's not a breac
