Had a missed call from this number, Called back and the guy answered with an indian accent 'HM REVENUE AND CUSTOMS' and asked for my name so he could pull up records.. I asked if its actually HMRC... He hung up.. Its a scam!

Hello. I didn't know the number either, But called back. I was asked for name (stupidly gave first & last) then was provided with the representatives "ID" number (1869438). When I expressed reservations about the call, They guided me online to the "Tax Credits: General Enquiries" and they proceeded to call me from HMRC actual number "0345 300 XXX" showing on the page (stupidly answered and continued the call). Was then advised 2016-2020 taxes were re-reviewed and I now owe HMRC "£4598. 75". When

Called me saying that there was a legal case against me by The Inland Revenue. I told him that if that was the case they would contact me by letter and put the phone down.
