It's a third party service that likely got your information from TD, the parent company of MBNA. MBNA lists a different identity protection on their website for $20/month, which is the same price as the one offered by the caller. They ask to validate your DoB, email, home address. I signed up like a moron, and within 48 hours received some emails about the terms. 30 day free trial it says, but I intend to cancel ASAP. Hate the fact it didn't offer caller ID.
This number has called at least once a day Monday to Friday for going on 3 weeks now. Caller ID flags it as potential spam so I was letting it go to voice mail, and they never leave a message, just a few seconds of dead air.
Today I finally answered and, as other reports here have mentioned, they're selling an identity protection service supposedly on behalf of MBNA but they also mentioned another company name after MBNA that I didn't recognize. When I said I didn't want it she said I could
They are trying to sell some kind of protection - thought it was a scam so I gave the (very friendly woman) an incorrect name and then IMMEDIATELY another person jumped on the call to verify that they had a different name on the account and wanted to confirm the information - explained I didn't have time and they then asked if they called back if I would be interested in the product to which I said no obviously.
Blocked the number.
