Man these scammers are getting more and more realistic. They asked for my full name as "confirmation". I got scared and I said "can I call you back later?" And to that, they said "no worries, WE can call you back later". Be careful. These scammers speak fluent English.
Said they worked for TD and wanted to enroll me in an Identity theft prevention program. Said I wasn’t interested and she tried to shame me for letting her explain all of this and not going through with it. Hung up, definitely a scam.
I actually called TD customer service and asked about this number. I was stressing after providing my info, but it is a legitimate number. They try to enrol you in TD id assist. They are annoying as hell, but it isn’t a scam. Just wanted to let you guys know! I thought i was the victim of some bs scam lol
They’ve called me twice, they do not leave a message and won’t answer for a long time. When they did answer they knew my name but I had already pressed hang up
Persistent calling throughout the week, and never leaves a message. I finally picked up, and the person is pretending to be from TD bank, selling an anti-theft ID services.
I contacted TD bank directly, and while they do offer a service called ID Assist, they will call you using 1-877-900-1837.
You can message phishing@td. Com to report the calls.
Sounded professional enough until they started asking for my private information such as my email address… when I said “that’s on my account so if work for TD, you should have it” to which she gave some kind of privacy-related excuse. Do not give them any information.
French representative from ottawa or gatineau. Actual human not a robo call. Sounded professional but was an obvious scam. $20 PER MONTH for anti id theft, and offered to provide credit score and an anti virus.
Claimed to be fraud prevention services, offering a free 30 day trial including a credit report. Asked for my name, and address before I hung up and blocked. DO NOT ANSWER.
This number called me, but I didn't answer. Judging by the number of lookups and comments here it was likely a good decision. They didn't leave a message.
