They called saying that they were Scotiabank reaching out for people to refinance their loans in these harsh financial times. Definitely a scam and super lucky we didn’t give them any info. Called Scotia bank and they confirmed they had no connection to the number.
Not legit. A lot of comments saying it's legit. It isn't. Scotiabanks real phone number starts with 1-800. This phone number starts with 1-833. Very similar. Notice the difference? This is how the scam works. Because even people looking for the number on Google may see it and think it's Scotiabanks legitimate number by mistake.
# called me, guy asked for me by name I said speaking, he tried twice to get me to confirm he was speaking to me, I said "confirmed" both times as I refuse to say "yes" over the phone due to scammers using those "yes" responses now. He got mad, said I can't hear you I'll call back later and hung up.
I called the number back, got a lady this time... She said it was a courtesy call to see if I needed help with my 2 mortgages, I said no and that was the end of the call.
SPAM. This is NOT Scotia Bank. I received a text message reminding me of a payment coming out of my account July 19th 2024.l and to call this number for more info. I've never received this before so I was concerned. I called the actual Scotia Bank number listed on my loan, and they in fact confirmed this number is a scam and no payments were coming out of my account t on July 19th 2024. The people commenting that this is not a scam are the actual people doing the scam!
